We've probably all heard Christians say that God is "unchanging." But do we really agree with that? For nearly 2000 years people of all kinds of faiths have struggled to reconcile the God of the New Testament with what they've encountered in their reading of the Old Testament story of Israel.
From a different angle, even though Christianity has a call to radical change as its core message, Christians and churches have sometimes been criticized (perhaps deservedly!) for being stuck in the past and conservative to a fault - in a word, “unchanging.”
We invite you to join us this year as we reach into the Old Testament as well as the New to investigate questions, ideas, and issues relating to the topic of God's unchanging nature and, hopefully, encounter the "unchanging" God who calls each of us to change ourselves and the world around us. |
