Garrett is husband to an amazing wife, Erika, and dad to Jack and Juniper. In addition to ministry he also works as a professor of sociology at The University of Texas at Dallas. He has a passion for woodworking, sports, and writing. He finds ministry deeply rewarding and plans to stay in it his whole life.

Before moving to Dallas to attend UTD and major in Business Administration, Siena grew up in the Austin area. While she left behind the beautiful Hill Country, she gained deep, spiritual friendships from the FOCUS community that changed the trajectory of her faith. After graduating, Siena felt called to work with the ministry that impacted her so greatly. She joined SMU staff in 2021 and is so excited to continue the work of making and maturing disciples as a Mustang! Make sure to ask her about her love for cats and spending time in nature the next time you see her.
TAYLOR BASS

Taylor graduated from UT Arlington with a degree in Marketing & Management. Having spent his entire life in Arlington, he’s now a tried and true Dallas boy. First starting his journey working with FOCUS full-time as a pastoral apprentice at UT Dallas, he now helps pastor our community at SMU. Taylor is passionate about the relationship of apologetics and genuine servant-like friendship in showing people Jesus and the fullness of life he brings. These were the 2 primary things that cemented Taylor’s faith as he wrestled with God in college. Taylor also loves disc-golf, board games, and flexing his magic tricks.

Renee first became involved in FOCUS back in Fall 2013 where she quickly felt a part of the family of hooligans there. She later graduated from UTA in 2018 with the longest degree name (B.A. in Interdisciplinary Studies with concentrations in Human Behavior and Intercultural Communications with a minor in Psychology). After working for a few years after graduation, Renee is excited to join the SMU team for the 2023-2024 school year!
