SIRAK ASFAW

Director - Dallas College - sirak@anyfocus.org | blog

Born in Windsor, Ontario, Sirak lived in Canada until 2000, when he moved to the United States. The son of Ethiopian immigrants, his life has been anything but ordinary. Upon arriving at Collin College to study Nursing, the Lord introduced him to FOCUS and changed his life forever. Through authentic community, he gained a vision for what a campus could look like when the students make Jesus Lord of their lives. He earned two degrees in Sociology and immediately joined the FOCUS staff. He also teaches sociology as an adjunct professor at Richland College.

SANDRA SALVADOR

Campus Missionary - sandra@anyfocus.org | blog

Sandra graduated from UNT with a degree in Integrative Studies, concentrating in Journalism, Spanish, and Sociology. Sandra loved being involved in FOCUS as a student because it was through this ministry she was introduced to Jesus. Different people in her life encouraged and challenged her to do the apprenticeship so she trusted God when he called her to join the Dallas staff and is here for the long haul. She enjoys listening to 70’s and 80’s music, playing Mexican train dominoes, and watching sad movies.

JOEY THURSTON

Campus Missionary - joey@anyfocus.org | blog

A Wisconsin native, Joey moved to Texas when he was 8 years old. He grew up in a caring family where he was handed down a love for pizza, cooking, board game nights, and sports (now he’s into disc golf and rock climbing). UT Dallas brought Joey to the DFW area where he studied literature with a minor in psychology. It was through outreaching, Jesus-loving people in FOCUS at UTD that he first learned to love the Lord. Now Joey is on mission at Dallas College to love college students well and show them the God that loved them first.

VERONICA ZACHARIAH

Campus Missionary - veronica.seder@anyfocus.org | blog

Veronica graduated from University of North Texas with a degree in Human Development and Family Studies. God used FOCUS throughout her years of college to teach her new depths of His character and love. Also in college, she met her now-husband, Kazayet, a Nigerian born-and-raised dancer, musician and data analyst. Veronica is a lover of nature (long hikes and big trees!), learning (books upon books upon books), and people!
